The beautiful and talented dancer Rania (Androniki Bossonis) Rania is two-time winner of the Bellydancer of the Universe award and was one of the original Bellydance Superstars. Her brief biography in her own words - "I was conceived in Egypt, and born in Jersey City, New Jersey. I was the first person in my whole family tree to be born in the United States. Although my heart is in Egypt, I am very grateful to be in the U.S. and love this country and everything it stands for. I have been blessed with the best of both worlds." "I started bellydancing at the age of 29 when my friend suggested I take bellydancing classes with her in 1999. I thought it would be totally appropriate as it would further my search into learning about my culture. I always loved dancing, but never had any formal training and wished I did. Dancing was always a dream of mine that I never pursued. So this was a perfect start." "Through dance, I've learned to express myself from my heart to everyone around me. And with my heart landing on the improvisational, classical Egyptian style of bellydance, it allows me to be Egyptian and at the same time, be proud that I am a woman who is able to express herself without fear of anyone else's idea and religious judgments on how a woman should express herself. It has also helped me see how many other beautiful women there are out there despite society's definition on beauty. It has helped me become more self-confident. And most importantly, I have also gained a true family of friends (other dancers and musicians) who share these same truths." Enough said . . . . . . . |
